340 climbers from different organizations and clubs throughout the

in two stages from 4th to 11th of February 2004. The first team
comprised of 100 climbers entered the region from Chelgerd in east

President of Iran`s Mountaineering Federation (IMF) and his accompanying
delegation inaugurated the ice climbing resort in Hamaloon valley
on Thursday, December25, where governor, mayor and some other officials
of Rudbar-e-Qasran region were attended in the inauguration as sponsors
of the project.
The formation of ice wall is due to
leakage of water that is brought from a spring by mean of water
pipe to this part of valley, which has a cold weather caused by
lack of direct sun light. The ice wall has an area of about 100 meters
in length and 20 to 40 meters in height.
Maygoon Mountaineering group has implemented the idea of forming
this ice wall. “We aim to make there an ice climbing resort
as well as establishing an ice climbing school.” said MirMohammadi
a member of the group. “We invite all ice climbers to this
resort” he added.
It is worth mentioning that Hamaloon cave and Kayghobad castle are
among the other attractions of Hamaloon valley, 40 kilometers north
of Tehran in Rudbar-e-Qasran region where you can access few of
4,000-meter peaks in middle alborz.
